PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source cooling structure disposed in a projector such as a liquid crystal projector, in which a light source has a long lifetime and an improved reliability. SOLUTION: A cooling structure comprises: a lamp 2 having a base 2b between a light emitter 2a and a heat radiator 2c; a reflector 3 having a through hole 3a, through which the base 2b penetrates from an optical space α side to a non-optical space β side, wherein the optical space α side designates a curved inner face side having the light emitter 2a disposed therein and the non-optical space β side designates a curved outer face side having the heat radiator 2c disposed therein; a lamp housing 6 for housing the reflector 3 therein. The cooling structure cools the lamp 2 and the reflector 3 by cooling air which circulates the optical space αand the non-optical space β. In this case, there is provided a means for controlling a flowing direction and a flow rate in such a manner that the cooling air circulating on the non-optical space β side is selectively brought into contact with the base 2b and the heat radiator 2c disposed in a state projecting toward the non-optical space β side while avoiding the reflector 3. |
