In a fine ore prepn. process involving hot gas drying of the ore particles, dedusting of the used gas and mixing of the collected dust with the dried ore, the novelty is that drying is combined with air classification of the fine ore by a fluidised bed process in which (a) the drying gas (7) is passed through the fine ore (2) to form a fluidised bed; (b) the drying gas velocity is set to cause entrainment of ore dust particles (14) below a preselected size; and (c) the entrained dust particles (14) are pptd., collected and mixed in dosed amounts with the dried ore (17). Also claimed is a plant for carrying out the above process.
