The X-Ray diagnostic unit has an x-ray source (14) and a beam detection unit (15, 34, 35) with a beam detector (15). The detector (15) is connected opposite the source (14) and is pivotable about an axis (M) to form discrete regions on the axis (M) in synchrony with the source (14). While the detector (15) is pivoting, the source (15) is activated and the detector unit integrates the received beam. In an alternative embodiment, the diagnostic unit has an x-ray source (14) and a detector unit (15, 34, 35) with an x-ray image amplifier to cassette whose amplifier (15) is attached opposite the source (14). The cassette includes an integration unit, a storage unit and a subtracter. The diagnostic unit is operated such that an image in a first integration period is subtracted from an image generate in a shorter time in the same direction and the resulting image is depicted.
