FIELD: concrete production. SUBSTANCE: vat residue from cumene-process phenol production is treated with formaldehyde in presence of 5-10 wt % of naphthalenesulfonic acid as polycondensation catalyst. Condensation product is sulfonated, neutralized with sodium hydroxide solution, and non-sulfonated compounds are further extracted with aromatic-series organic solvents. According to invention, above-mentioned vat residue is preliminarily set free of light fraction at 210-250 C/0.01995 Mpa and is employed in amount 25-50 wt %. Resulting residue contains, wt %: alfa-methylstyrene, 0.3-0.4; acetophenone, 0.16-0.22; dimethylphenylcarbinol 0-1.28; phenol, 0.88-1.08; alfa-methylstyrene dimers, 26.0-30.67; cumylphenol, 24.36-33.87; and high-boiling unidentified components, 32.7-48.46.
