A thermoplastic packaging film includes a carrier layer containing up to about 1.0 weight percent of spherical alkali aluminosilicate ceramic particles having a refractive index of about 1.52. The carrier layer preferably is a heat sealable layer which includes a polymer having mer units derived from ethylene. The refractive index of the overall film, and particularly that of the carrier layer, preferably is in the range of about 1.50 to about 1.54.
