Pesticidal controlled release pellets or granules having a protectant are provided. The protectant modifies the concentrations of pesticidal active ingredient in proximity to the pellets or granules. The pellets or granules are intended for application to aggressive as well as standard soils. The preferred pesticide is an insecticide.
