PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection procedure for finding out through rearrangement a path of a multi-rate/multi-cast traffic, via a synchronous digital hierarchy(SDH) cross connection having a sub-network connection protection. SOLUTION: In the case that an open path for a new payload passing through an SDH switching hardware is not available, a switching procedure seeks a path with a sufficient capacity that is blocked, based on an existing and smallest payload capacity. When a hunt is successful, the existing connection is allocated again in this procedure to execute a path with a new payload. This procedure does not interrupt the existing connection. Thus, this procedure is a 'hitless' procedure. An event of connection of an existing payload to be moved to produce a path for the new payload is entered in a queue, the connection produce is repetitively and sequentially applied to each until the queue is vacant. |
