SURFACE-TREATED CARBON BLACK AND RUBBER COMPOSITION USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electroconductive carbon black subjected to a surface treatment with silica, such an excellent dependency of tanδon temperature that silica has, and to obtain a rubber composition incorporated with the carbon black. SOLUTION: This carbon black for incorporation in rubber composition is obtained by subjecting a starting carbon black to surface treatment by using (A) a silicon compound having 3>= alkoxy groups in one molecule each bound to a silicon atom and (B) a sulfur-containing silane coupling agent curable with rubber in such a rate that B/A is (0.5:100) to (30:100) and (A+B) accounts for 0.5 to 30 wt.% of the starting carbon black. Preferably, the components A and B are co-hydrolyzed before use.
