PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader and an image reading method by which a double side original is read without deteriorating image reading efficiency. SOLUTION: This image reader is provided with a CCD unit 2101 having a reduction optical system and with a close contact sensor unit 2102. When an original is set to a draft feeder 2104, the image of a front side is covered into the video signal by a CCD unit 2101 and the image of a rear side is converted into the video signal by a CCD unit 2102. The image signals converted into video signals are stored respectively by image storage devices 2106, 2107 by an image processor 2105. Thus, the double-side image is read without turning over the fed original. |
