METHOD FOR PURIFYING NICKEL SULFATE WITH ACID EXTRACTANT

Provided is a method of efficiently producing a high-purity nickel sulfate solution through solvent extraction using an organic acid extractant. In the method, nickel is extracted into the extractant while removing sodium, ammonium and other impurities from the resulting, nickel-containing organic phase. The method comprises extracting nickel from a crude nickel sulfate solution into an organic acid extractant within a pH range falling between 6.0 and 7.0 while the nickel content of the organic phase is kept to be from 0.5 to 1.7 times the stoichiometric nickel loading capacity of the extractant, and then scrubbing the nickel-loaded, organic phase followed by stripping it with sulfuric acid.
