The invention relates to a method and device for need-controlled preparation of software products (15) so that they ready for despatch. The software products (15) consist of one or more data carriers (13) and one or more print products (14) in a common packaging. In accordance with this method, at least one data carrier (13) and at least one print product (14) are produced by means of a print terminal (12), and are assembled immediately after production to form a software product (15).
