PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of defective ejection by surely removing bubbles in an ink jet printer wherein suction is executed by making a nozzle to be in an airtight condition by means of a cap. SOLUTION: Ink 97 is supplied from an ink tank 21 via a tube 19 to an ink jet head 3 that ejects the ink 97 from a nozzle 5a. When bubbles 99 are sucked to be removed by pressing a cap 33 against a nozzle face 5b and driving a suction pump, a liquid level 97a of the ink 97 in the ink tank 21 is set to a position upper than the nozzle 5a by means of a water level adjusting jig 23 from a time when the suction pump is driven to a time the cap 33 is away from the nozzle face 5b (B, C). As a result, a positive pressure is applied to the ink 97 in the nozzle 5a so that the bubbles 99 sucked at once in the cap 33 do not reflow into the ink jet head 3 even when the suction pump is stopped (C). |
