PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated metal plate with a smoothly rugged appearance aiming at giving design characteristics and enhancing antimarring properties. SOLUTION: A coated layer obtained by applying, baking and drying a coating C composed of a mixture of a coating containing a thermosetting resin A as a binder component and a crosslinking agent component for crosslinking the resin A and a resin B which meets the conditions (a)-(e), is formed on a metal plate. Consequently, it is possible to obtain the coated metal plate with a smoothly uneven outer appearance. (a) the relationship between a median particle diameter X and a wet coat thickness Y, a coat thickness after drying Z when the coating C is applied, is 2Y>=Xι1.8Z. (b) solid at normal temperatures. (c) insoluble in the coating at normal temperatures. (d) soluble in the process of baking the coating. (e) the coating C is not compatible with the coat made up of the resin A and the crosslinking agent component in the coat after baking.
