PURPOSE:To resolve the complicated operation that a user thinks of the name of a destination point to input a character string at the time of destination point designating and register (WP mode) operation. CONSTITUTION:A display means on which map information read out from a CD-ROM is displayed, an input means which can designate an arbitrary point on displayed map information, a storage means where coordinates and the name of the designated position are registered and held, and a control means which retrieves a symbol having coordinates closest to coordinates of the point designated on map information displayed on the display means and registers this retrieved symbol as the name of the designated point in the storage means together with its coordinates are provided to constitute a navigation device. |
