PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an exothermic agent containing calcium oxide for heating a fumigant hardly thermally degrading an active ingredient, capable of effectively heating the fumigant and rapidly starting smoking thereof, further capable of being used not only for an indirectly heating method but also for a direct heating method. SOLUTION: This exothermic agent contains calcium oxide having >=5 deg.C/sec exothermic rate when reacting 20 g calcium oxide with 6 ml water. The heating method of a fumigant comprises heating the fumigant by the heat generated by the reaction of the calcium oxide having >=5 deg.C/sec exothermic rate with water (when reacting 20 g calcium oxide with 6 ml water). |
