PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly pure D-amino acid, among an aromatic amino acid, useful as a raw material for antibiotics, etc., by treating the enantiomer mixture of the aromatic amino acid with a microorganism, etc., capable of selecting decomposing the aromatic L-amino acid. SOLUTION: This method for producing a D-amino acid comprises treating the enantiomer mixture of an amino acid of formula I (R is H, OH) and/or formula II (R1 , R2 are each H, OH) with at least one of a microorganism belonging to the genus Fusarium, Gibberella, Aspergillus, Pleurotus, Nectria, etc., or its treated product having an ability to selectively decompose the L-amino acid among the amino acid of formula I and/or formula II to produce an amine of formula III and/or formula IV and subsequently recovering the left D-amino acid. The D-amino acid useful as a raw material for medicines, especially antibiotics, can thereby be obtained in high optical purity. |
