The head comprises a base plate (160) with a support plate (164) standing up from the base plate. A permanent magnet (168) is fixed to a surface in front of the support plate, whilst a housing (148) containing a gel is fixed to the upper edge of the support plate. A printed circuit suspension plate (152) is fixed to the housing containing the gel. The cores of the coils are mounted in front of the permanent magnet, and focussing coils (128) are track following coils (128) are wound about the cores perpendicular to each other. Two coil printed circuits (134) are fixed to the front surface of the core, and the coils are connected to these circuits. An objective lens carrier (110) comprising an objective lens (114) is fixed to the front surfaces of the two coil supports. |
