PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent lowering of the illuminance of a light source in the case when it is disposed in an air passage and to lessen the frequency of maintenance by providing a protective member which covers the circumference of the light source and transmits the light from the light source. SOLUTION: An air cleaning unit is equipped with an optical deodorizing unit for which a photocatalyst removing an odor component in an air flow is used and a prefilter which removes dust. The optical deodorizing unit is equipped with a photocatalyst element wherein the photocatalyst is borne by a honeycomb-shaped bearing body and a light source unit 50 which includes a light source casting ultraviolet rays on this element. The light source unit 50 is fitted to a square-ring-shaped upper case together with a drive circuit making the light source 51 emit light. Herein the light source 51 is covered with a protective member 53 almost at all and the opposite end parts of the light source 51 are covered with paired end part holding members, whereby the light source 51 is protected. As for the protective member 53, fluoroplastic is preferable for the excellent ultraviolet-ray transmitting property thereof. In this way, the protective member 53 can protect the light source 51. |
