摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To absorb scattered light in the inner surface of a front face glass substrate, and reduce halation so as to obtain a clear image when a plasma display device using the specified glass substrate is started by specifying visual average transmittance in a specific range. SOLUTION: A front face glass substrate for a plasma display device has visual average transmittance of 10 to 85%, more preferably of 40 to 80%. In order to set the visual average transmittance of the glass substrate together with the reflectance of the glass substrate surface to 85% or less in the visual average transmittance of the glass substrate, the strict regulation of the rate of respective components constituting the glass is needed. For instance, a plate glass is manufactured from raw material containing CoO of 40 ppm and NiO of 200 ppm against, in percentage by weight, SiO2 of 56.9, Al2 O3 of 7.0, MgO of 1.5, CaO of 2.0, SrO of 7.0, BaO of 8.5, Na2 O of 4.5, K2 O of 7.0, ZrO2 of 4.5, TiO2 of 0.7, Sb2 O3 of 0.4 by a float process so as to form the substrate.
