Compounds and uses thereof for the preparation of pharmaceutical compositions as immunosuppressants, anticancer agents, and antiviral agents, the compound having formula (IV) where R is H, PO3<=>, alkyl of 1 to 12 carbon atoms substituted or unsubstituted, straight chain or branched, 0 to 6 double bonds, (CH2)nmorpholine where n=1-4, morpholinomethylphenyl, orthoaminophenyl, orthohydroxyphenyl, (CH2)nCOOR2 where n=1-4; where R2 is H, an alkalai metal salt, an alkaline earth metal salt, NH4<+>, N<+>(R3)4, where R3 is independently selected from the group consisting of H and alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, COR1 wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of H, (CH2)nCH3, where n=0-6, (CH2)nCOOR2 where n=1-4 and R2 is previously defined, (CH2)nN<+>(R3)4 wherein n=1-4, and (CH2)nSO3<-> where N=1-4.
