Process and staged combustion apparatus for regenerating a catalyst for reforming or for aromatics production in moving bed

Regenerating a movable catalyst bed for reforming or producing aromatic hydrocarbons, whereby the catalyst coats a support, at least one noble metal and at least one halogen, comprises use of a combustion stage with treatment for the catalyst in at least two successive combustion zones. Each combustion zone is separated from the adjacent zones in such a way as to allow the passage of the catalyst but obstruct the passage of gases. In each zone at least one gas containing oxygen is introduced and the gases produced are extracted from each zone. The severity of the operating conditions in each combustion zone increases in the direction of movement of the catalyst.
