The present invention relates to a catalytic reaction device having a laminate provided in a fluid passageway and a catalytic reaction method. The laminate body is constructed of laminated metallic plates which are made of catalytic metal or are attached on their surfaces with catalytic metal so as to regular small channels formed between the metallic plates and so as to make the metallic plates into heat generating plates or heat absorbing plates. Consequently, a dispersion is substantially uniformly caused in a fluid passing through the laminate body and a catalytic reaction is caused on the fluid at the same time as the laminate generates heat or absorbs heat.
