A carriage for a roller skate comprises a body on which a plurality of wheels is independently suspended by respective resilient suspension means. In-line wheels are independently mounted on trailing arms rotatably mounted on a body and biased by springs which resist the rotation of the trailing arms as the wheels move upwards, for example on impact with an obstruction.
