PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an abnormal vibration waveform existing in a vibration waveform with sure and high resolution by collecting working sound of a pumping plant by a microphone and preparing a scalogram by performing a wavelet transformation for this sound wave. SOLUTION: In a fault diagnostic device in a pumping plant, a sound waveform obtained by collecting working sound of the pumping plant by a microphone is inputted in an integrating circuit 2 from a waveform input means 1 performing an input in the device. In the integrating circuit 2, a wavelet transformation is performed by an algorithm. At first, maximum values of parameters a, b to be constants are inputted after an initialization is performed and next, a Fourier transform of a signal waveform is calculated in a Fourier transform device 4. In an arithmetic circuit 5, a calculation to be a calculation routine of a double loop structure is performed. As a result of this calculation result, array data of a×b is determined. In a wavelet transform result output device 3, a scalogram is plotted from this array data and the scalogram is displayed on a display device.
