PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having extremely improved lubrication properties of a polar oil, and further having a high durability and low hygroscopicity by adding a specific fluorine-containing aromatic compound to the polar oil. SOLUTION: This lubricant oil composition comprises (A) a fluorine- containing aromatic compound of the formula R(ORf)n [R is a 6-30C (n)-valent aromatic group; (n) is 1-3; Rf is a fluorocarbon or a partial substitution product thereof with the proviso that the number of carbons in Rf is 2-9, the ratio of the number of fluorine atoms/the number of carbon atoms is 1-2.5, and the fluorine atom content in the whole molecule is 34-65 wt.%] and (B) a polar oil (e.g. an etheric oil such as a polyalkylene glycol) and has 0.5-50,000 cSt kinetic viscosity at 40 deg.C. The component A is preferably obtained by reacting phenols of the formula R(OH)n with hexafluoropropane by an addition reaction by using an organic base of 0.01-2 molar times as much as the amount of the phenolic hydroxyl group in the presence of water of 1-5 molar times as much as the phenolic hydroxyl group in a polar solvent under 0.1-2 atm. |
