MANUFACTURE OF SQUARE CHIP RESISTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a square chip resistor in which variation of a resistance value before trimming is made smaller without deteriorating adhesive strength of a top surface electrode layer for an insulating substrate, so that accuracy of a resistance value after trimming is improved. SOLUTION: In this method for manufacture, a pair of first top surface electrode layers 2 are formed on an insulating substrate 1. Then a resistance layer 4 is so formed as to overlap with a part of the first electrode layers 2. And a pair of second top surface electrode layers 5 are so formed as to cover the part on the first top surface electrode layers 2 where the resistance layer 4 does not lie on. And a protective layer 6 is so formed as to entirely cover the resistance layer 4. And a pair of end surface electrode layers 3 are so formed as to overlap with a part of the second top surface electrode layer 5.
