1,109,138. Work transfer machines; transferring blanks in stamping and metal working presses. L. PATRIGNANI. 30 July, 1965, No. 32808/65. Headings B3B, B3C, B3H, B3Q and B3W. A platen transfer machine with upper and lower chain runs comprises a plurality of standard machines. Each standard machine has a base 1, Fig. 1, adjustable vertically by screws 2 and attached to its neighbour by a spigot 3 and a hook 4. The upper part of the machine comprises spaced baseplates 6, 9, Fig. 2, posts 11, tubes 12 and brackets 13 including clamps 14 for securing a mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic stamping or swaging press or variable-speed motor for turning, milling, boring, planing or grinding or means for surface treatment hardening, measuring &c. The tubes 12 slide on the rods 11, play being taken up by adjustable collets. Each workpiece 20, Fig. 3, is carried in a vice 19 on a platen 18, located by rods 22 moving down with the tool, and locked by arms 24 actuated pneumatically. Movement of the tool axially is controlled by a variable-speed motor 29, Fig. 6, driving through worm and screw gearing 33. A tool change assembly slide 38, Fig. 10 (not shown), may be fitted containing a geared drive to a tool. A tool unit may be mounted horizontally as in Fig. 11, or inclined, Fig. 12 (not shown). The platens 18 are fed by plastic rollers on the chains and counterbalanced lifts transfer them between the upper and lower chain runs. |
