PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silicon purification process that can be smoothly and inexpensively operated by combining the two steps in the production process for silicon for solar cells thereby simplifying the process to a continuous one. SOLUTION: Solid silicon is molten with electron beam 6 under vacuum to remove readily evaporating elements, then the molten silicon 4 is charged into the cast vessel by over-flowing and the molten silicon 4 is solidified from the bottom upward to remove the metallic element contaminants. At this time, a bottomless crucible 11 comprising a plurality of electroconductive pieces divided in the peripheral direction at least a part of the shaft direction and the solidified silicon 10 is continuously taken out downward. |
