PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably light a discharge lamp and to reduce a power loss in a current limiting element by serially connecting the current limiting element composed of an inductor to the secondary side of the boosting transformer of an inverter for supplying a high frequency current having a reduced harmonic to the discharge lamp. SOLUTION: An unsmoothed DC current obtained by flow-rectifying an AC current from an AC power source 1 with a DC power source 2 is used as a high frequency high voltage in an inverter main circuit 3, and it is then supplied to a discharge lamp 4 to be lit. With the inverter main circuit 3 including the actuation circuit Trlg of a discharge lamp lighting device, serially connected switching means Q1 and Q2 are alternately turned ON and OFF by control circuits BD1 and BD2 , and a high frequency having a reduced harmonic is supplied to a boosting transformer T at a high input ratio via capacitors C1 and C2 . A current limiting element BT composed of an inductor and the discharge lamp 4 are connected to its secondary side via the current feedback circuit CT of a current transformer equipped with a capacitor CD. |
