Removal of Hg, Hg cpds. and polyhalogenated hydrocarbons from O2-contg. flue gas produced by incineration of refuse, industrial waste and sewage sludge is effected by adsorption on a mixt. of natural zeolites at 80-180 deg.C with a gas velocity of 3-20 m/sec and a contact time of 0.5-10 sec. The adsorbent has an av. particle size of 5-50 microns and is suspended in the gas in an amt. of 0.02-10 kg/Nm3. Advantage - The process is capable of reducing Hg levels below 50 mcg/Nm3, polyhalogenated dibenzodioxin and dibenzofuran levels below 0.1 ng/Nm3 and polychlorinated biphenyl, polychlorinated phenol and polychlorinated aromatic levels below 1 mcg/Nm3. |
