PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare nitrogen at low production speed by passing nitrogen steam to the side of the coil of a reproducer prior to heating, and recovering this as nitrogen product, and passing the steam rich in oxygen to the shell side of the reproducer during the noncooling period. SOLUTION: Nitrogen steam which has nitrogen concentration of 95% at least is extracted as a flow 8 from the upper part of a tower, and it is shunted into the first section, that is, a reflux flow 10 and the second section, that is, a flow 9 of products. The reflux flow 10 enters an upper condenser 11, and is returned to the tower 5 after condensation. The product flow 9 is sent to the side of the coil of the reproducer 3, and is passed through a coil 12 buried in the charged substance of a reproducer. Hot product coming out of the reproducer is extracted from the coil side of the reproducer, and is recovered as a product flow 32 which has nitrogen concentration of 95 mol% at least. On the other hand, the steam rich in oxygen, that is, waste 15 passes a check valve 4, and supply air is not circulating. That is, it enters the cooling end on the shell side of the reproducer 3 in noncooling period.
