PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the portable telephone set that makes notice of an incoming call through sounding of a call tone and vibration of a vibrator or the like to relieve trouble on surrounding persons due to an incoming call notice. SOLUTION: When an incoming call is detected in a standby state that is not set to an automatic answering mode, a main control section 13 gives call tone data to a voice CODEC section 4 and allows a buzzer 7 to buzz or allows vibrator 12 to start vibration so as to vibrate the set main body thereby informing an incoming call, and allows a display section 11 to display a message denoting the presence of the incoming call. When the user applies a pressure to the set main body and a pressure sensor 10 senses the pressure, a main control section 13 responds to the pressure sensing by the pressure sensor 10 to interrupt transmission of call tone data to the voice CODEC section 4 so as to stop buzzing of the buzzer 7 or terminating vibration by the vibrator 12 resulting in stopping the vibration of the set main body thereby interrupting the notice of the incoming call.
