The saw gate has a saw frame (6) with a number of parallel saw blades (7) mounted in a fixed gate frame (1) so as to be longitudinally adjustable in the direction of the saw blades. The saw frame can also be transversely moved in the gate frame towards the block (9) using guide parts (2). The longitudinal movement of the saw frame is caused by at least one thrust rod (24) working with a motor driven crankshaft. The drive unit, consisting of an electric motor (18), a flywheel (20), a reduction transmission (21) and the crankshaft (22), is directly mounted on a guide part which supports the saw frame movably in the gate frame.
