Folding roof for road vehicle

The folding roof is for a road vehicle. It has a rear portion (12) which forms a sloping rear portion of the roof when the roof is up, and folds away in a compartment (46) behind the seats when the roof is lowered. The lid (48) which covers the compartment is lifted up and then lowered again as the roof is folded away. The middle (10) and front portions of the roof fold up inside the rear portion before this is lowered into the storage compartment. All the portions of the roof are rigid, and are connected together by mechanical linkages (26-34).
