Process purifying domestic or industrial waste waters

Purifying waste water containing organic materials by depositing and composting (2) solids (4), filtered from waste water (1). The solids are deposited onto an aerated filter layer (22). They are composted largely dry, in air counterflow. Two planted filter bed clarifiers follow (7, 13). In the process, deposition and composting take place in successively-charged chambers (19). Fluid components (3) from intermediate storage (6) are distributed (10, 12) as sub-streams (9a, b) onto the planted beds (7, 13). Water from the first is recirculated (8, 6).
