HEAT TREATABLE SPUTTER-COATED PRODUCT

A heat treatable sputter-coated layer system for glass substrates may be applied before heat treatment if the layer system includes: a) a substantially non-oxidated metallic layer (C) of nickel or a high nickel content alloy containing more than 50 percent by weight of nickel, with a thickness ranging from 2 to 25 nm; b) a protective layer (E) of a metal oxide being different from the metal used in the layer (C), with a thickness ranging from 2 to 100 nm; c) a separate layer (D) of metallic silicon or an oxide or nitride of nickel or the high nickel content alloy and containing more than 50 percent by weight of nickel which is inserted in between the layers (C) and (E). The layer (D), firmly binding the layer (C) with the layer (E), is as thick as 0.5-10 nm.
