PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize a display image of high display quality by preventing miswriting and luminance unevenness of the AC type plasma display panel. SOLUTION: On the internal surface of a 1st insulating substrate 2 between 1st and 2nd insulating substrates 2 and 7 which are arranged opposite each other across a discharge space 1, a scan maintaining electrode group of pairs of striped scanning electrodes 5 and maintaining electrodes 6 covered with dielectric layer 3 and protection film layers 4 is arrayed. On the internal surface of the 2nd insulating substrate 7, a group of a striped data electrodes 8 is arrayed orthogonally to the scan maintaining electrode group. Data electrodes 81 and 82 are separated while leaving a gap in the stripe direction. They are so driven from the border of the blocks separated by the gap so that at least one scan on one stripe is not performed at the same time.
