PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a ceramic porous thin film, having pores having a uniform pore diameter on the surface and suitable as a catalyst, a catalyst carrier or an adsorbent material, a deodorizing and a deodorant material, a sustained release material, etc., capable of treating a specific molecule and to provide a simple and economical method for producing the ceramic porous thin film. SOLUTION: This ceramic porous thin film is produced by a simple method for adding a polyethylene glycol or a polyethylene oxide to a sol liquid prepared from a metallic alkoxide and alcoholamines, etc., coating a substrate with the resultant mixture and then thermally baking the coated substrate. The pore size or the distribution density can readily be controlled by changing the molecular weight of the added polyethylene glycol or polyethylene oxide. Thereby, pores having a uniform pore diameter within the range of 1 nm to 2μm can be formed on the surface thereof.
