PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a printing speed and image quality, to miniaturize an apparatus, to reduce cost and to enhance reliability. SOLUTION: This apparatus comprises a toner supplying section 2 having a toner carrier body 22, an opposing electrode 25 placed in opposition to the carrier body 22, a high voltage power supply 31 that generates a voltage difference across the carrier body 22 and the opposing electrode 25, an insulation substrate disposed between the carrier body 22 and the opposing electrode 25, a plurality of gates 29 that are provided on the insulation substrate to be passing sections for a toner 21 and a control electrode 26 consisting of electrode groups provided at portions surrounding the plurality of gates 29. It is controlled so as to make a first voltage condition wherein an electric field that allows the toner to move from the carrier body 22 to gates 29 is applied to each of the electrode groups corresponding to image data and a second voltage condition wherein an electric field that allows the toner not to newly move from the carrier body 22 to gates 29 and dose not reduce the speed of the toner moving at that time. |
