Apparatus (1) for conditioning water to inhibit scale deposition therefrom comprises a housing (2) having a water inlet at one end thereof and a water oulet at the opposite end thereof. An impeller (9) is rotatably mounted within the housing (2) along the longitudinal axis thereof, so that water flow through the housing serves to rotate the impeller. An electromagnetic coil (5) surrounds the housing and the impeller and serves to magnetize the impeller when activated. As the water flows through the apparatus it is subjected to a rotating magnetic field generated by the rotating magnetized impeller, and the water is thus conditioned. |
