PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To encode an analog information signal such as an audio signal and to record the coded signal at a high efficiency. SOLUTION: A system in which this device is applied is configured so as to record digitally an audio signal in the unit of a prescribed audio block(AB) and to reproduce the signal. In the case that a prescribed similar relation is in existence in audio block data among the plural audio blocks or that a peak level of the audio block data is less than a prescribed level or the like case, recording of the corresponding AB data is omitted and at least one or two AB data are used again. Moreover, number of times of use of the AB data is indicated to mode data and stored in a storage device together with the AB data. The recording data amount is reduced by using the AB data again, and in the case of reproduction, the AB data are used repeatedly by the number of times indicated in the mode data. Moreover, a criterion (the degree of similarity or the peak of an index level) as to whether or not the data are used again is revised automatically or optionally to improve the convenience as an audio recorder. |
