PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To search a part corresponding to variable meaning origin from a sentence constituent element by finding a matching degree by setting a character string to be that matched with the variable meaning origin and converting the character string into a translation word registered in a word dictionary. SOLUTION: The analysis part 10 of a CPU 1 calculates the matching degree of a selected fixed sentence with an input sentence. The translated sentence matched with the fixed sentence is stored in a work memory 5. A variable meaning attribute element in the Japanese sentence of the fixed sentence stored in the work memory 5 is substituted for the variable meaning origin element in the input sentence. The variable meaning origin element in an English sentence is substituted for the translation word of the element stored in the work memory 5. When the sentence constituent elements except the variable meaning origin are almost matched and the variable meaning origins are not matched, the translated sentence of the character string equivalent to the variable meaning origin is extracted from the word dictionary 19 and a sentence approximated to the sentence which a user inputs and the translated sentence is securely displayed. |
