PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal fixing device capable of discriminating that a temperature detecting means corresponding to each heating device is normally connected at the time of turning on a power source, and preventing the temperature control of the heating device from getting abnormal. SOLUTION: In this thermal fixing device 1, heat generating devices 3 and 4 energized from the power source and heating a fixing roller 2 are divided in two in accordance with the size of paper to be used, and the device 1 is provided with a control means 10 having a temperature detection means and independently controlling the turning-on of the respective heating devices 3 and 4. In such a case, the device 1 is provided with a discrimination means 11 discriminating, the devices 3 and 11 corresponding to the temperature detection means or discriminating the temperature detection means corresponding to the devices 3 and 4, and the control means 10 allows the means 11 to function according to the on-signal of the power source so as to start the discriminating operation and allows it to finish its function when the discriminating operation is finished. |
