PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dishcarge lamp lighting device in which light emitting efficiency of a discharge lamp is improved. SOLUTION: A discharge lamp 4 is connected to a secondary winding of a transformer 2, a saturable reactor 3 which wholly or partly acts as a current limiting impendance of the discharge lamp 4 is serially connected to the discharge lamp 4, so an effective value of a current of the discharge lamp is set to be smaller than sine waves, and that a quick peak value is provided to the current of the discharge lamp 4 by magnetic saturation action of the saturable reactor 3, thereby a peak factor of the discharge lamp 4 is set large to improve light emitting efficiency. |
