Tandem hollow charge munition warhead

The tandem charge projectile has a first charge (3) at the front of the shell and a rear charge (4) at a set spacing (5) behind the front charge. The rear charge is ignited after a set time delay after the first charge. To prevent premature firing of the second charge, it is braced on the inside of the shell case by two interlocking wedge profile rings (8,9) which provide temperature compensation. The rear, main charge has a tapering profile and is fitted with a wedge profile ring, This is gripped by a correspondingly shaped wedge ring screwed into the rear of the shell case to secure the charge. Both charges are hollow types eg. for armour penetration.
