<p>A composition, for bonding a silicone elastomer surface to an organic elastomer surface, comprises, by wt., (A) 20 to 80% of an organic isocyanate, and (B) 80 to 20% of a room temperature vulcanizable silicone elastomer stock. Isocyanate (A) can be any mono-, di, tri- or poly-isocyanate, numerous examples of which are given, and component (B) can be any conventional R.T.V. silicone elastomer stock, the one-package type being preferred. In a typical Example (1) 4,41-diphenylmethane di-isocyanate, two OH-terminated dimethylpolysiloxanes of different viscosities, a trimethylsilyl-treated SiO2, TiO2 and methyltriacetoxy silane, were mixed together to form a bonding mixture. Many Examples of bonding mixtures are given.</p> |
