摘要 PURPOSE:To shorten time for measuring a distance by receiving distance measuring beams reflected on an object in plural areas for distance measurement set in a horizontal direction on the image pickup face of a solid-state imaging device. CONSTITUTION:Near infrared beams emitted by turning on a light emitting diode 13 are horizontally shaped into laterally long slit beams by a regulation board 12, projected to objects 14a and 14b by a projection lens 10, reflected and made incident through a lens 3 to distance measurement areas 15a and 15c. Electric signals in the case of projecting the slit beams are converted into video signals by a video signal processing circuit 27 and afterwards transmitted to a gate circuit 33 and in the circuit 33, extracting video signals are extracted. Further, a detection circuit 34 detects the incidental position of the near infrared beams in the distance measurement areas 15a and 15c from the respective extracted video signals, corresponding position signals are sent to a calculation part 35 and in the part 35, distance measurement data and definite distant data are calculated corresponding to the respective position signals. These distance measurement data and infinite distant data are compared, and one selected distance measurement data is transmitted to a microcomputer 36.
