Premises access control device in form of electronic key

The access control system employs an electronic key (11) housing a memory storing an access code, which co-operates electrically with a reader which has two contact zones at differing electrical potentials. The reader has a metal plate (8) supporting a raised metal block (9) which is electrically isolated from the plate. The key (11) has at one of its extremities a two pronged fork with a projecting electrical contact (13) at the tip of each fork prong, and a contact (14) in the central part between the prongs. The fork fits over the raised metal block in the reader so the prongs contact the plate (8) and the central contact (14) presses against the raised metal block (9).
