The temporary distribution box has a body (2) which is of long slim rectangular form and is designed to fit easily into the service shafts of buildings under construction. The upper part of the box supports switches (9,12) and protective cutouts (10). The distribution socket outlets (11) are mounted on the lower part of the box and there is also an emergency cutout button and indicating lamp (12,13). Cables (23,26) with male and female connectors (25,28) allow for individual or series connection of the boxes with terminal boards (33) providing supply to the local switches, cut outs and outlet sockets. Each box is shielded by a hood (17) which has holes (18,19) for suspension.
