PURPOSE:To obtain a fabric, having high safety, antimicrobial and deodorizing effects, rich in durability and capable of manifesting excellent strike through properties in printing processing by treating a polynosic fiber fabric having chitosan with an epoxy compound. CONSTITUTION:This method for improving the strike through properties of a polynosic fiber fabric is to respectively and separately treat the polynosic fiber fabric with a glycidyl ether of a higher alcohol, preferably ethylene oxide lauryl alcohol glycidyl ether, dodecyl alcohol glycidyl ether, etc., as an alkylating agent comprising an epoxy compound or ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether, sorbitol polyglycidyl ether, etc., as a cross-linking agent or with a solution containing mixed both in previously impregnating the polynosic fiber fabric with an acidic aqueous solution of chitosan, then treating the polynosic fiber fabric in a basic aqueous solution, coagulating and fixing the chitosan and then carrying out the alkylating and/or cross-linking treatments or mixing chitosan fine granular particles before spinning the polynosic fibers, spinning the resultant mixture and subsequently carrying out the alkylating and/or cross-linking treatments of the resultant fibers. The resultant antimicrobial and deodorizing polynosic fabric is excellent in strike through properties. |
